Our first Farm Work Visit is scheduled for July 16th. Please look under 'Events' for more details.
We are sold out for the 2010 season, however we are maintaining a waiting list in case of cancellations.
You can add your name to the waiting list by going to the farmer's website at: www.stoneledgefarmny.com/ and then clicking CSA locations then Chelsea CSA.
The Core group
The Chelsea CSA is committed to being a mixed income CSA. People buy their whole or half shares at Sponsor, Standard, and Discount levels. When you join the CSA, you are buying a share of the farm’s harvest for a season.
Not surprisingly, prices have gone up, although the Stoneledge CSAs remain an affordable way to get local certified-organic vegetables. The standard share price of $520 is now $21.65 per week for the five-month season mid-June to mid–November (up from $19.80/week last season).
EVERYONE WHO JOINS THE CSA IS REQUIRED TO VOLUNTEER AT LEAST SIX HOURS DURING THE SEASON. If you can’t work critical tasks at distribution, there are plenty of other things to do!
It won’t happen without all of us stepping up to do the work as other step back or leave.
Current Chelsea & West Side CSA Shareholders may order special products: meat, poultry, cheese & more each month.

Your basic CSA membership includes a commitment to volunteer for at least six hours each season, which runs mid-June to mid-November. Two additional hours are required if you purchase an optional fruit share. Distribution on Tuesdays is critical task, with two members required at the minimum to cover each shift. There are also set-up tasks prior to the first shift from 3:30-5:30 pm and clean up tasks after the second shift from 5:30-7:30 pm.
Everyone is strongly encouraged to plan his or her shifts or other work as early as possible in the season. Distribution volunteers will follow-up with members in person each week until all shifts are covered. The Chelsea CSA also maintains a list of alternates who are on call for any “no show” or to cover emergency changes.
We are looking for a few additional CSA members to become back-up Distribution Coordinator(s). These folks ensure that each week’s distribution runs smoothly. If you are interested in this role and are available on Tuesdays for some time between 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm, you may leave a message for the Chelsea CSA coordinator at 212.760.9878 or e-mail us at chelseacsa@yahoo.com
The Chelsea CSA goals include increased access to high quality organic produce for a wide spectrum of community residents. We are a mixed-income cooperative, with shares offered at both standard and discounted levels, depending on household income. Those members with higher incomes are encouraged to make further contribution in support of membership diversity.
The membership registration form asks people to select a payment level and payment plan that matches their income. The membership registration form is not a guarantee of membership. You will receive a letter confirming membership, or letting you know if all shares are sold for the current season.
Checks, money orders, and food stamps are accepted.
Checks should be payable to "Stoneledge Farm LLC.”
Please see http://www.stoneledgefarmny.com/ for on-line registration and payment alternatives including credit card or electronic check.
